Why is your Gas Pedal on the Floor?

Man resting on couch covering face with armThe sympathetic nervous system stays constantly active at a base (basic survival) level to maintain homeostasis (controlling blood pressure, heart rate and metabolism (the sum of all chemical actions in the body that convert food into energy to sustain life).

It can become overloaded due to stressors such as work pressors, emotional or environmental triggers causing prolonged fight or flight or freeze response instead of returning to a resting state.

The feeling of being constantly “on” is what drives many of these ongoing symptoms. The Gas Pedal is on the floor “stuck” and you can’t find the brake pedal to balance your situation.

One of the big signs of this is an inability to get quality sleep.

Which means you are tired the following day and anxious which can lead to more stress.

Remember you always decide if you are going to be stressed, so take stock, and make one change per week and see the difference. How do you decide, you decide by not thinking or more precisely not engaging with your thinkingness processes.

Tips:

1. Decide to not indulge in comfort food for one week. The more sugar intake the less control you have over your body.
2. Get the book “Celtic Inspirations” by Lyn Webster Wilde and tune into your inner self.
3. Exercise each day, walk, swim, cycle, exercise is the gateway to the soul.
4. Come to the Get Back Health Chiropractic and Wellness Clinic this week and get your spine and nervous system adjusted so you are in control of life again.
