Physical TherapyNeuromuscular Therapy Physical Therapy

This form of physical therapy is for injury prevention, treatment and strengthening sports athletes of all categories, as well as with people of all ages and body types.

Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) is a solution for injury which uses massage, mobility, stretching and rehabilitation exercises to help eliminate pain. Time tested, hands on NMT techniques coupled with current science based exercise programs. NMT takes the entire body into account when dealing with pain and injury, not just the area of complaint, so postural screenings, strength testing and gait analysis are part of treatment and assessment.

NMT sessions are an hour long and primarily address:

  • Injury – what is the nature of your injury? (History, sport, stress etc)
  • Strength Testing – so we can ?nd the weakness that led to the injury
  • Postural Assessment – so we can check your mobility and possible injury risks
  • Neural Entrapment & Nerve Compression – pressure on nerves from tight muscle tissue (manual therapies – massage, dry needling, cupping, soft tissue release)
  • Gait patterns – (if applicable) running or walking on treadmill, track or outdoor
  • Rehabilitation Exercises – for Injury Treatment, Prevention and Strengthening
  • Myofacial Trigger points – hyper-irratable taut bands within muscles (a ‘knot”)

Sports Injury

Sport comes at a cost sometimes! Injury can be a sign of training errors. What I want to ?nd is where the injury has come from, what caused this to happen. Once we have the information we work together to make sure we strengthen the areas that were weak and gain better control over your movements to prevent re-injury. Alterations to your current training programs will be made to modify the volume, intensity and type of training so we can hopefully still exercise while injured in as much capacity as possible.

Postural Consideration

Does posture lead to muscle pain? A hotly debated topic these days as the vast majority of us have taken too many hours a day sitting at a desk, sitting in a car, sitting in front of the t.v. It’s not just that sitting itself is inherently bad for us, it’s just the sheer volume of time spent in that position can have adverse effects. Wake up some posterior chain muscles and wake up to a stronger, less painful posture.

Dry NeedlingDry Needling

Fast and effective relief from Myofascial Trigger Points. Trigger Points cause pain, headaches, referred pain to other areas and even loss of range of motion of the joint. Dry needling deactivates the trigger points, relieving the pain and restoring normal function to the muscle.

This can be a very powerful treatment for the relief of pain in may areas of the body for people of all ages.

A comprehensive medical history is vital in order to determine if this is an appropriate treatment.
