A balanced diet helps us feel refreshed and awake.

Today is the first blog on nutrition and sugar and I will add to it regularly as time moves forward.

The body is 80% alkaline and 20% acidic. To maintain balance one should eat accordingly. Much of the discomfort and confusion we experience every day comes from a high acidic intake. Eggs, coffee and toast is an all acidic breakfast. Yoghurt and seeds –pumpkin, sesame, sunflower are alkaline proteins. When we rebalance our diet to 80% alkaline, 20% acidic we feel fresh, relaxed and awake. Sugar is the most acidic food on the planet and other then artificial sweeteners there is nothing more harmful that you can eat.

The worst type of sugar is frutose, not when it appears in fruit, but when it is added to foods. Fructose tricks the body into gaining weight by fooling your metabolism and fructose spikes blood sugar levels.

All of these actions upon your body mean that your endocrine system has a lot to cope with each day.
