Nutrition is a Personal Thing

Nutrition is the study of how foods, after they are swallowed make you tick. To a considerable degree nutrition can make you a human dynamo, which means the lack of proper nutrition can create unwanted desires for processed foods.

All foods you eat should be delicious; there is no sense in eating any foods you do not like. However, it is important to develop a taste for foods rich in nutrients that your body must have to function normally.

One of the reasons why proper nutrition is not applied is that eating has emotional connotations, to many people certain foods symbolize pleasure, pain, reward, punishment and so-forth.

The purpose of nutrition is to maintain health and prevent illness.

Sixty or more nutrients are needed to build health. Energy is produced in your body by burning (oxidizing) of basic sugars and fat. The metabolism or energy production increases only slightly after a meal high in processed foods, fatty foods or carbohydrates. After a meal of high protein however metabolism rose more quickly than did the blood sugar (which rises with processed and sugary foods but falls after an hour or so causing a slump in energy) and the high protein consumption created high metabolism (energy) for over 6 hours.

As the digestion of a high carbohydrate meal continues, sugar keeps pouring into the blood. In effect it tells the pancreas send more insulin which is needed to get blood sugar into the body’s cells. It’s the over kill of this process that leads directly to Diabetes heart disease etc.

Tips:

1. Develop a taste for salads, watch Donal Skehan on TV and see how he seasons his salads and how often he includes a salad in a meal heist cooking.

2. When at work get a salad bowl once a week as your body is 80% alkaline and salads are 100%alkaline and full of nutrients.
